FIELD OF USE:  Maxilla Facial surgery, Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic surgery: Neurosurgery, vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, Ophthalmology, Trichology general medicine, Geriatric, Diabetology, Hematology, General surgery, DermatologyRegenerative medicine is a type of medicine that aims to replace or rebuild damaged tissue.

There are, in fact, cells in our body that have the ability to effectively regenerate tissues that are normally impossible to repair.

Our in-depth and ongoing study of platelets, the biological mediators they contain, and the optimisation of preparations and protocols to enable their administration for therapeutic use have enabled us to progress and significantly increase the versatility and possible therapeutic applications of Density Platelet Gel.

This sum of knowledge is intended to provide an answer to the numerous bone, muscle, tendon, cartilage, aesthetic and, in general, tissue pathologies that are constantly increasing.

The therapeutic potential of PRP is based on its great versatility, efficacy and biosafety: its use in clinical practice encourages a process of tissue repair and regeneration that is as natural as possible and free of toxicity.

The pathologies treated with PRP are many.

The results of studies are very encouraging and in Xenoderm's ten years' experience, cases treated with PRP have had a high therapeutic success rate.

THE TREATMENT

1. PLATELET BIOSTIMULATION

Platelets release numerous platelet growth factors that can mediate the healing of damaged tissue, modulate inflammation and stimulate the formation of new blood vessels.

It is therefore possible to exploit this natural function of growth factors to treat orthopaedic degenerative diseases, cartilage or tendon injuries.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is used for this purpose.

PRP consists of 95% platelets and is injected into the site to be treated in order to stimulate tissue repair and reduce inflammation.

Growth factors must be injected into a tissue rich in vascularity, from where they can spread to exert their role in attracting and modulating the cells proposed for healing.

Platelet growth factors in Aesthetic Medicine are used to alleviate the signs of ageing by stimulating skin regeneration, which progressively diminishes with age. Indeed, our skin loses tone, shine and radiance over the years: growth factors are able to stimulate collagen production and improve vascularisation, preventing and delaying ageing.

The treatment is therefore indicated in the prevention and treatment of skin ageing and tissue damage caused by photo-aging.

Growth factors, once injected into the face and body, trigger a process of repair, regeneration and thus rejuvenation.

2. HOW PLATELET-RICH PLASMA IS OBTAINED

Platelet-rich plasma is an autologous substance obtained by centrifuging the patient's own venous blood, to which it is then applied. This preparation requires high precision: the aim of the method is to obtain the highest possible platelet concentration while preserving the viability of the elements. Furthermore, the entire process for obtaining Platelet Rich Plasma must comply with the quality and safety requirements imposed by legislation. For this reason, at the end of the extraction and separation process, appropriate quality controls and microbiological tests are performed on a small sample of the PRP obtained. Finally, the tubes containing the concentrate are stored in cold rooms suitable for use in the various planned treatment sessions.

3. PRP PREPARATION PHASES

COLLECTION: a small amount of blood is taken from the patient.  The sample is placed in a centrifuge that has characteristics suitable for obtaining Platelet Rich Plasma. At the end of this operation, three layers are observed PPP - Platelet-Poor Plasma PRP - Platelet Rich PlasmaPRP - Platelet Rich Plasma - Red blood cells

SEPARATION: Platelet-Poor Plasma is aspirated from the tube and discarded; the Platelet-Rich Plasma is isolated and combined with a platelet activator prior to administration to be used for the treatment in question.

4. PROCEDURE

The procedure clearly depends on the purpose of the treatment and the scope of application. Generally, PRP is administered in the area to be treated in a minimally invasive procedure. The treatment involves a cycle of sessions, at varying intervals, in order to induce and maintain significant and lasting stimulation.

APPLICATIONS AND EFFICACY
The possible applications of PRP in the medical field are numerous and the result is somewhat subjective. Platelet-rich plasma is mainly used in regenerative and plastic surgery but, in clinical practice, numerous other applications have shown promise: in dentistry, orthopaedics and aesthetics.

CONDITIONS THAT ARE TREATED WITH PRP
Traumas and acute injuries:
Density Platelet Gel infiltrations are used in the treatment of sports and acute injuries such as knee sprains, ruptured ligaments, muscle tears and strains.

In orthopaedics, PRP is used to accelerate the healing process of fractures and when performing prosthetic applications;

  • Tendon injuries: PRP can accelerate the healing of a tendon after an injury;
  • Density Platelet Gel infiltrations are also used to treat chronic tendon injuries, such as tennis elbow, Achilles tendon inflammation or patellar tendon pain in the knee;
  • Arthrosis: PRP-based therapies are applied for the management of orthopaedic degenerative diseases, such as knee, hip and ankle arthrosis;
  • Post-surgical repair: in cardiac surgery, Density Platelet Gel is used to accelerate the wound healing process;
  • Density Platelet Gel is also administered in the treatment of: burns and scars, pressure sores, vascular and diabetic ulcers;
  • Androgenetic alopecia;
  • Dental implants and bone tissue reconstruction in dentistry
  • Breast augmentation;
  • Correction of facial defects;
  • Regeneration of skin and subcutaneous tissues to improve the appearance of many areas, such as: cheeks, nasolabial folds, eye and periocular area (eyelids, 'crow's feet', dark circles), lips, forehead, neck and neck skin folds, acne scar outcomes, décolleté and back of the hands

Factors that can influence the effectiveness of PRP treatment include :
Area of the body to be treated the patient's general state of health whether the injury is acute. (e.g. sports injuries) or chronic (if the injury develops over time)

CONTRA INDICATIONS : Caution : The treatment is contraindicated in certain conditions, i.e. in the presence of blood clotting disorders, acute infectious diseases and haematological tumours. As far as side effects are concerned, the risks are minimal and lie essentially in the method and technique of administration. Insights into the various applications.

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is a regenerative therapy that exploits the effect of platelet-derived growth factors, which are able to repair human body tissues such as skin, bones, tendons when they are damaged.
